Surprise Beach Vacation!!!

Our wonderful parents surprised us this past weekend with a delightful weekend beach trip!! On Wednesday the 6th, Mom and Dad surprised us with the news that we were going to the beach for a couple days!  Needless to say, we were all elated and ready to get to the beach as soon as possible! We all had our reasons, of course, the girls were ready for a tan and the boys were ready to jump in the waves! Anyway, we packed up and were ready to go by noon on Thursday! We had a great trip with lots of sand volleyball, seashells, boogie boarding, meeting new people, and wonderful family time!  One of our highlights was meeting the McLungs, another Christian, homeschooling family on the beach! We spent a lot of time with them and were extremely blessed to meet them!

Our groceries for the weekend!

A van full of excited faces! (Not that our road trips are always full of smiles and perfect attitudes;)

Paige's usual traveling face:)

The view from our condo was absolutely gorgeous!! The power and beauty of the ocean always makes me in awe of its majestic Creator!! (Psalm 95:5 & Psalm 96:11)

The four fabulous Knapp boys heading out for a swim!

One of the many shells we found, held by Seth;)

Adorable little footprints in the sand...

Buried in the sad....yes, our condo was full of sand...;)

A breathtaking sunset

Megan's artistic breakfast;)

More swimming!!

And then they buried Dad...;)

We went crabbing at night on the beach with the family we met! It was a blast, full of screams and laughter!!

The "grandfather" crab;)

This picture is of my personal favorites! The colors are so vibrant!

The McLungs introduced us to a delicious ice cream shop! It was possibly the best ice cream I've ever had and we got to watch someone make homemade fudge!

Anticipating free fudge samples;)

Us Knapp kids, the McLung kids, and their mom!! We were so thankful to meet them!!

Overall, our beach trip was one that we will never forget!!  It was a great Mother's Day weekend and we hope that our beautiful, incredible, hardworking mother had a wonderful trip!! I can't put into words how much she means to us and how much she does for us!! We all love you so much, Mom!!  Maybe we can make the beach a Mother's Day tradition?!? :)

First post!!!

We have finally started a blog!!!  When we first moved to Georgia, we had several people tell us that they couldn't wait till we started a blog.  Finally, over a year later, I found the time to sit down and figure it out!!  The last year here in Georgia has been a busy one!  We have been figuring out our new area, enjoying visits from good friends, meeting new people, making our new house feel like home, and, most of all, growing closer to God together.

God has been teaching me, and the rest of us, a lot about giving thanks in all circumstances and finding joy in everyday life.  I read a quote once that said,
"Time stands still best in moments that look suspiciously like ordinary life."

This is why we named our blog "Ordinary Moments, Extraordinary Memories" because when we look back the moments that are so special to us are the ones that seemed the most boring!!  When I look back at everyday life in Illinois, I remember working in the garden, stopping in on grandparents, game nights, baseball in the backyard, singing at the nursing home, and so much more!  They are treasured memories!!  It is saddening to think of how much we've taken for granted in life!! When you look at every day, every commonplace moment, as a beautiful gift from God, life becomes so much fuller in Him!!

This last year has been a journey full of tears and laughter and it has been good, not always easy but good!! We have had family weddings, our church moved locations, some of us got new jobs, we have been working on our house, and so much more!! We can't wait to watch the future years unfold and now we have a blog to document them!
